Steering lock malfunction light
Has anyone experienced an occurrence of the red steering lock malfunction light coming on first thing in the morning after the car has been parked overnight. Mine came on then after several goes at removing the key and replacing it the light went out. On one occasion it held on till I next parked the car 12 miles later. Is this fault common, I read that it might be a low battery or a fault with the steering lock motor which requires the entire column to be changed by the VW dealer as non franchised dealers can't replace the column. The cost is about £1000.00 so I am told , but I have not priced it myself yet. Any clues?
