seat covers

I've never used any kind of seat cover in any car before but a small split in the upholstery on the drivers seat of my passat has over time become a larger one and it would be nice to smarten the place up a bit and prevent it splitting even more.

Has anyone ever used a cover with passat seats? Halfords have some they claim are "universal" but i've been sold universal things before that actually were not! Can anyone recommend a set for front and back? I'd like the car to match
