What Parts to Rebuild BKP Eng with Dreaded Oil Pressure Prob

Post by billy187 »

Hi guys,

I know its difficult to tell how much damage has been caused until the engine has been stripped down but i just wanted to gauge some rough estimates to be able to weigh up whether its worth me getting the original lump sorted or whether i should just fit a second hand engine.

The sump will be taken off during this week sometime by the garage so i know for sure but until then im trying to do abit of homework on what the best thing to do will be.

Following on from my other thread, no oil pressure light or similar is displayed on the car, it just sounds very tappety after having to replace the turbo.

Now for the following parts:

- Crankshaft Sprocket
- Balance Shaft Sprocket
- Chain Tensioner
- Oil Pump Drive Key

I have been quoted £370 inc the vat. I have been told it is very unlikely the oil pump itself has been damaged but if it has then this will be an extra £165.

Now i know i would get away with only the above bits if the rest of the engine hasn't been ruined but say in the worst case scenario it had, what other parts would i need and roughly what would be their costs?

Any help is really appreciated.
