Evening ladies and gents.. Bare with me because this is a long winded 1..
I have recently returned to the passat fraternity, with not 1 but 2 b5.5 TDi 130 sport 6 speed wagons. My plans is to make 1 mint 1 out of the 2 and break the other 1 for parts..
The '02 1 has 182k, a recent cam belt and water pump change, is in good condition all round but is really down on power, like I can't here the turbo at all and it took me a long time to get to 70, the traction control light came on when I drove it home, needs the back brakes and hand break doing, and has no cruise. The '52 plate 1 has 231k with a documented brand new engine from vw at 50k, documented gearbox refurb at 70k, needs the belt and water pump doing, the wings are rotten in the usual places, goes like stink, has cruise, and needs the brakes doing on the front, a air con pump and a windscreen.. Both have a new alternator.
Questions.. I'm leaning towards doing the '02 1 but I'd want to change over the cruise control, how difficult is that to do, what do I need to change altogether? Why might the traction control light come on, and any suggestions as to why it's so down on power?
Thanks in advance
Which 1 do I save and which 1 do I kill?
