Because of my thermostat not working and taking advice on here, I decided to have the cambelt changed at the time. Now normally I do all my own mechanics but again from taking advice on here, I booked it into a local garage.
The first phone call I got from them was that the kit only included x1 belt, so I said please get the other onew as well for the diesel pump. The next call was about the water pump which for me was a no brainer. The next question was about the 'damper' and although this was OK I said repalce it anyway.
The issue I have is that when I went to collect it, the engine management light was on to which I found a connector not attached although this was after sveral minutes debate about whether it was on or not when the car fist came in.
However the issue that I have at present is that as soon as the ignition is put on, the fan runs constantly. Needless to say I had to leave the car with them!
Two questions:
1. What is the 'damper', what does it do and where is it?
2. What would cause the fan to run constantly even when the engine is cold?
Thanks in advance.
