Various faults developed

Hi guys, it seems that my indestructible b5.5 130pd avf is starting to play up. First fault is when I start from cold it runs like a bag of nails, smokes and has excess diesel knock. I did think it was the egr valve but after blanking off it still does it , secondly when locking the car the indicators have stopped flashing, the boot light doesn't work (never has since I got it) and there are no 'door open' lights on, thirdly it has started to take ages to warm up, for the gauge to reach 90 degrees I need to hoof it up a steep hill otherwise the heaters will only be warm
Any ideas or am I better off getting rid
