this has been covered numerous times so apologies, its been a slow day at work so spent it researching engine oil
, because of my ignorance i have put the wrong oil in my car and have been driving round in it for the last 8m and done 000's of miles.I have used Quantum long life 3 5/30 which i now have found is for longer service intervals for 504 00 / 507 00
I should have used Quantum Platinum 5/40 which i have discovered is for PD engines for 10k miles intervals which is roughly what i do annually when i have the oil changed. this is for 505.01 like the manual says. this is what i'll be using next time.
I'm having the oil changed when its serviced in 4m time, my question is, has this done my car any harm? will it not run as well with this long life oil than if i'd used the 505.01??? its just worrying me when people are saying on here that its the wrong oil for PD engines, whats the worst that can happen?
