Hi all,
I have a 57 plate 2.0 TDI SEL 170PS Passat which has done 68K. I have had the car 3 months and have done 12K in it, but every so often whilst driving the coil light will flash, the message "engine fault garage!" Will display and it goes into limp mode. A simple switch off and restart clears this. My code reader says fault code 00665.
A local vw specialist told me it is caused by te vanes in the turbo not being able to move properly due to carbon deposits, and the only solution is a new turbo or live with it.
I have been told about a product called revive turbo cleaner which you spray into the inlet system post the map sensor and it clears all these deposits making the car run and perform much better. Www.turbocleaner.co.uk
Www.cleanmyengine.co.uk are websites about this stuff and there is a video about it too.
I have found another vw specialist 20 miles away who do offer this service, but my question to you is, is it really a safe thing to put into your engine? It must be one strong chemical to be able to clean a turbo with the speed at which air is sucked through it?
I have had one engine blow up on me this year and really can't afford another one but really want to make it run as well as it can.
Many thanks in advance
Scott
