B5.5 TDI 130 cut out whilst driving

Hi I was driving to work Wednesday and as I put my foot down the car picked up speed then cut out, the battery light came on and the glow plug light started flashing, so I costed to a lay by and had a look under the bonnet but saw nothing wrong. Started it back up and drive but it felt like it didn't have full power, got to a petrol station and turned it off then started it again and it felt fine. When I got to work it was ok then I revved it hard a few time and it did the same! Lights on and flashing so I put the diagnostic (snap on) machine on it and it came up with an "ECU FAULT". I spoke to a m8 at TPS and told him and he said he has never heard of an ECU being sold due to a fault! I spoke to another m8 who used to run AMD and he said to look at the ECU wiring pins 15 and 30 as the can come loose. I have not looked at anything yet as it hasn't done it again.

Has anyone else had a problem like this????
