advice for my 1.8cl variant

Post by matty707 »

hello every 1, great forum here i have managed to solve a few problems with my passat from searching the forum which have convinced me to carry on running the old beast. its actually a really low milage 96 B4 but its starting to get a bit gready on fuel and really feels a bit slugish when i need the power.

im confident that once i replace the thermostat and sender the fuel econmy will improve. the exhaust blows a bit so a new exhaust is required. but what exhaust? cats got to stay, and i dont want it to b loud or increase fuel consumption, but it would be nice to have something that will last a few years and give me a bit more performance.

i cant decide on what air filter to get so far a pipercross replacment for the standard box looks good value. but is it worth doin a proper induction kit and rid the box completly

am gunna need new tyres for mot so might treat my self to some bigger rims. are all b4 and mk3 golf wheels interchagable mine is 4 stud wiv drum rear breaks. it wud be nice to get 15 or 16 inch vw wheels

and lastly a chip. i had no idea u could chip these but i have found 1 on ebay so does any1 have any experice chiping this engine and if so is it worth while

big post for my first time so thanks for reading
