Lowering query

I spoke about lowering a short while back but its been on the back burner, along with the decat, EGR mapout and remape

Anyways, can i get away with just lowering springs on the passat? It's a 2005 highline. There is a set of Eibachs on ebay for £200

Im not wanting to spend loads because I don't corner to the point where i'm making deals with the divine to teach orphans the piano if i get through it.
