1.9TDI Fuel Economy

Post by DCassey »

I've done a bit of research and everything seems to be about power gains, with only a few nods to improved fuel economy. I was wondering if you could give me a slightly more definitive answer as I drive 250 miles between uni and home each weekend to play football (I know, crazy, but I worked hard to get where I am and don't want to leave!! :D ) so while increased power would be nice, the economy is important.

The reason I'd like to know is I want to try get an idea of how long it would take to pay for itself in saved fuel to see if it's worthwhile getting now or just keep the money in savings for Mongol Rally next year. I currently get a not too shabby 50-55mpg over the trip but improvements are always welcome ;)

Cheers,
DC
