I'm quite a noob to coilovers and have recently fitted some Jamex coilovers. The ride is very stiff, and I want to know how to make it softer if at all possible.
My question is, if I compress the springs more and make the car higher (which I don't mind), will the ride be softer - does more damping mean a softer ride?
I also have an advisory on my car that arm rubber bushes are deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement and lower suspension ball joint has slight play, would it help the ride if these were sorted?
I plan to carry a full load soon with full boot and full load of car - 5 people and I am not confident that with my current setup the car would survive as it I would worry that it would bottom out and it could potentially cause serious damage as well as being a very uncomfortable ride!

My other option would be to fit standard shocks again with 40mm springs as a compromise between looks and ride quality. Anyone done this, is the ride OK?
Any helpful advice appreciated!

Cheers!
