led number plate bulbs

Hi guys,
excuse my ignorance on this subject.
I want to fit led number plate bulbs on my 05 b5.5 passat and have been looking at a few on e-bay.
Some of the sellers are mentioning about a "Canbus" wiring system, and getting errors about bulbs out etc.
Does this apply to the passat or is it ok to go ahead and fit this bulbs without any problems,
