1.8t, V5 or V6 pro's and con's

I hope some people can help....as I'm thinking of changing my passat 1.6se to something else I have being checking the ad's etc and I have seen several car's that fit the bill. The only thing I can't work out is which is best (or which have less problems).
I have seen 1.8turbo's, V5's and V6 syncro's all within my price range (I know about common passat issues thanks to this site....but which engine etc?) plus what about the tip-tronic versions? (a lazy box doesn't put me off)

b.t.w mpg doesn't really bother me and a tdi is pointless due to the low mileage I cover (but it hopefully will be a sport if one is around when i come to buy)
