New Member - HI - TDI Estate, should I buy 5.5 or 6??

Post by drainaudio »

Hi all..
Time has come to sell my beloved, v high spec & mint 05 Cooper S...

To be honest it's been a fun ride but both size and economy have become serious issues, looking forward to seeing it go actually.

I now essentially need a really good estate for my self-employed business and having always loved VW - parents had several (inc an 80's Passat Estate and 70's Beetle at the same time) a Passat is my one and only choice.

I'm currently looking at cars between a 53 and 56 plate, budget will be aprox £6500.00 - ideally I'd like a one owner FVWSH with around 50-60k on the clock in sport trim or highline (I actually prefer the feel of the sport seats w' 3 spoke wheel and would prob be happier with firmer suspension too).
Do the sport and highline come with the same spec stereo?

Plan on keeping the car for around 4 years poss more so would rather take my time & get a really good example that I can cherish.

Have a very reputed (neighbors) VW/Audi Indie a few mins walk from home in Sth London so will go say hi and ask a few questions there as well - I always maintain my cars fastidiously so a good mechanic with whom I can build a friendly business relationship is essential.

What would you guys recommend for the money I have to spend?
Have been keeping an eye on AutoTrader, Pistonheads and Ebay - most good examples seem priced quite a bit above book.
Are the 4-motion cars worth considering if one becomes available - I quite like the look of this one although not the biggest fan of blue (ideally want black or grey)........then again a matt black wrap just on the bonnet would set the blue off rather nicely.

Thanks in advance, Geoff..
