Juddering under load

I have a 2008 (57) 2.0 TDI Passat that I have been having issues with what seems to be a misfire/juddering under heavy acceleration higher in the rev range.
The problem has never put the EML on so no codes are present so Iām leaning more towards a fuelling issue.
I changed the fuel filter and air filter and it did seem to sort the problem for about a month or so but then it started doing it again.
I do notice that the fuel pump under the rear seats can be quite noisy for a second or so when the car is switched off, is this normal for these cars
Anyone with any similar issues who managed to sort this and any help much appreciated
