I'm in the process of trying to decide whether to take the plunge and have a new turbo installed (it has failed) but there is another problem which worries me. A crack has appeared in the rocker cover which may have occurred after the car was getting a new injector fitted a couple of months ago. Not sure if something was dropped on it or it was over tightened.
This certainly explains the fumes coming from the blowers/ engine bay. When I take the large cosmetic engine cover off I can see a steady stream of oily vapour/ smoke coming from the crack.
Do any of you have thoughts on this. Is this likely to be indicating something much more serious i.e injector seals, worn head/bores/ cylinders etc. In other words an engine on its way out?
Or is this normal and simply vapour from heated oil under the rocker cover?
The car has 333K on the clock so its all getting a bit high risk now!!!
