B6 Locked shut (rear door)

First Hello,
second Arhhh!
Rear door has locked, can't open it from the inside or out, have taken the inner door panel off so i can see all the gubbins,
Reading all the reviews and how-tos on here, they all seem to tell you how to remove the lock AFTER the door is opened (or how to fix the OLD version b5 etc, the B6 is different!)

How on earth do you open the door?

I can just about reach my arms inside and yank on the inner and outter door cables but nothings budging
The electirs are definately working as you can hear the door motor, u can hear it lock and unlock!

Not sure if childlock is on or off as it was locked when i bought the car! (having owned a b5 previously i thought i knew how to get in!)

I removed the little cap on the outside hoping to find a keyhole like the drivers... but alas someone has drilled a hole in the little panel... peering inside i can't see anything that'll help!

Any clues?
