Auto box driveshaft removal

Hello All,

does anyone have experience of changing/removing driveshafts from an auto gearbox (not DSG) mated to the 2.0 petrol turbo engine?

Car is currently at a VW specialist to have the shaft's bearing/joint changed (can't get a complete driveshaft for this model). Just got a phone call saying he can't get the shaft out from the gearbox. Is there a special tool needed that he doesn't know about?

Getting really, really hacked-off; have been trying to get these joints sorted for over a year now....
