I have had my trusty passat now for 7 years and it's been a good friend until recently. Driving normally, it let out a little cough/fart (as if the ignition had been turned off and on) and continued on it's merry way with no problems for several months.
It has now started to increase in frequency, to the point where I had to be straight barred home on Monday evening. No MIL displayed on the dash (it does illuminate when going through the start up checks). A scan has brought up the code 'n243 PD unit injector cylinder 4 regulation range exceeded'
the car restarted and ran for a short time then stopped again (just like when I used to run out of petrol as a young lad). Left for a while then started and ran half way home.
Fast forward 2 days later and the car started and ran fine, on the driveway, but I don't trust it enough to go anywhere. The Injectors/ loom was done before I took delivery.
Would/ should a failing injector bring on the MIL?
Could this be something else that is causing this fault code to be displayed?
Am I clutching at straws?
