Wipers stop when stationary!!

Hi Guys.
Got an odd problem that's recently started on my B6.
Doesn't matter what mode my wiper blades are on, whenever i come to a stop (at a junction or whatever) my wipers completely stop!!! this is starting to get old fast!!
I had a little look around and people are suggesting the bonnet sensor?!?! which frankly seems odd, plus my car isn't warning me that the bonnets open.
Any ideas??
A side note, my rear wiper has completely stopped working, but that was ages ago so i don't think it's related.
