Ive not been on here for a while......still got my 2006 sport estate which has needed a fair bit of work recently. The most annoying problem being the tailgate lock failing. Being a cheapskate I bought a Chinese one off ebay ….which works but has stopped the rear washwipe working and the open tailgate warning light wont go out.
Im guessing the canbus system doesn't recognise it....put it down to a bad ebay experience and found a genuine vw one this time from the same year/model/part no. from a scrap car, bought it and fitted it. Same problem tho. No washwipe and warning light on when closed.
If I plug the old one back in the wipers/warning light are fine.....but it don't lock
Now the vw one ive fitted has an earlier date on the unit. Looks like its 10 mnths older.....Do I have to cut my losses and go cap in hand to a main dealer and give them the chassis no. to get the correct one that works?
This is driving me mad.
