Removal / Replacement of Gear Driven Oil Pump 2.0 tdi BKP

Post by slowlane »

hi,

I am trying to change the oil pump on my 2.0 TDI BKP.

The oil pump is gear driven and so does not have the chain and sprocket.

Does anyone know how this oil pump comes off? I took out the three holding bolts but the pump did not come off (some movement though).

I understand that the balance shaft goes through this oil pump , so it will have to slide off some how.

What is the best way to do this:

1/ Take the Crank gear off to let it slide out (does anyone know how to do this as there are no bolts on it like the four bolts on the other gear?).

2/ Take the hex out that runs through the oil pump. I know there is a circlip on the end of the hex running through the oil pump but how do you get the actual hex to come out?

3/ Or do you need to unbolt all of the holding tray and drop the balance shafts and oil pump as a complete unit? Then once off , slip the oil pump off?

Thanks for any thoughts.

cheers
