Key Replacement and Coding??

Hi there peeps,
We only got one key when we bought our 2009 Highline Estate, dealer has apparently got one on order but that was two weeks ago, not holding my breath.....
Anyway, 2 main questions;
1 - Can I buy a secondhand key and recode it or do I need a new one?
2 - Will I be able to code a key with my full version of VCDS?
