Long Clutch Pedal Travel

Post by G60JONNY » Mon Aug 06, 2018 12:31 pm

Hi there,

Could anyone advise me on the following: 2009 TDi Highline 2.0, long clutch pedal travel to get the clutch to disengage?! It engages fine and doesn't slip, therefore I was thinking slave cylinder? Is it possible to bleed the system?

TIA

Depends on what you have - hydraulic slave inside the bell housing or external slave that has a piston actuating a lever inside connected to the release bearing. Both if I recall can be bled but one is harder to do than the other (for the latter type there should be a bleed nipple at the back of the plastic piston housing on top of the gearbox). Can't remember if the fluid feed shares the brake master cylinder - if so it is best to keep the fluid topped up at all times to avoid air getting into the clutch circuit.
