Sport estate suspension

Hello all,
Newbie here so please excuse my ignorance.
I’ve just bought a 2008 B6 sport and love the car apart from the rear suspension seems incredibly hard, it feels as though there’s little suspension on it-unusually it’s worse on the motorway as feels jittery and hard which gets tiresome on long journeys.
Checked the springs out and they look to have been renewed but the shocks look original, could it be the wrong springs fitted or shocks need replacing ? Wonder how you check for the correct spring -is there a colour or code on them ?
The front feels firm but relatively comfortable which is how I thought the sport would be and it does seem to sit lower at the rear than the front is this normal ?
