Driveshafts - Drivers Side vs Passenger side

Post by chizzle3110 »

Hi Guys

B6 Passat 2006 2.0 TDI SG6 ENG Code BKP

Ive just finished fitting my replacement drivers side drive shaft as I managed to get a replacement of a friend for £25 quid. Harder than I thought without using a lift.

Anyways, As soon as I took it for a test drive it was obvious that I was now getting the ta ta ta ta sound from the left side also :-O . Because the origianl noise was coming from the drivers side it drowned out the noise from the passenger side.

My question is, are the drive shafts the same length on both sides, im thinking of replacing the faulty cv joint on the drivers side shaft whilst its out of the car, as Im a little unsure of the procedure of replacing the joint (can find a decent video showing how) so it would make it a lot easier if I could do it whilst its on my workbench. Or are they different becuase of the transmission placement?

Any help would be great guys
Thanks Chizzle
