BMR Starting and poor running issues

Hello again, I'm having nothing but trouble with this engine ! BMR 170. The car is difficult to start and ticks over like a bag of spanners and seems to hesitate around 2k rpm. I have no glow plug warning (emissions workshop) I have a horrible suspicion that I have an injector leaking back, is there any quick check that can be done ? I recently replaced No.4 injector with a second hand one as the garage I took it to told me it had an electrical fault, they also replaced the injector wiring loom. They also told me I had contaminated fuel and drained the tank, I suspect that some bright spark put petrol in my diesel to try and clean the injectors which I obviously can't prove.The poor starting has only become in issue since, suffice to say I'm not going back there.
