Could be a broken spring?

Front near side, one day everything is fine, the next when I go over a bump there is a creaking/knocking noise, It defo sounds like a broken spring.
Car drives normally, slight pull to nearside but only very slight, doesn't look to be listing to one side.
I wont get a chance to see whats going on until Friday, I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.
I pushed down on the bonnet on that corner and couldn't make it repeat the noise. It really has to hit a speed bump or fairly large bump in the road, it wont do it if creeping along.
So, is there anything else in there that this could be?
