Service Indicator 'Mileage Due'

Post by jsa274 »

Good afternoon all,

My 2006 B6 was serviced in November last year (2017) by my trusted indy, all is well so far.

When the fob is inserted, I would get a dashboard message reading "7900 miles to next service" - fair enough.

I took it a long run to visit family before Christmas, no problems at all. Next day it still says 7900 miles. The day after that, I start it up and it says "Service now". I've no idea why it has deteriorated so suddenly. I know the ECU monitors the oil quality and adjusts the service countdown accordingly, are there any other monitored systems dictating the service mileage that I need to look at?

If it makes a difference, this car was built with a long-life servicing regime, although I ignore this and get it serviced every 10,000 miles/1 year. Is it a possibility that the service indicator has now been reset to a fixed interval and the ECU doesn't like it?

Thanks,

J
