2010 bluemotion passat 2.0 140 tdi CR Help!

Hi everyone.
Today I bought a passat 2010 bluemotion 140 tdi 94,000 miles.
Car sounded quite when picked up was good to drive and I was impressed so far...
5 miles later I approached a junction and heard a tapping noise quite pronounced from the engine, I set off again and it stalled and wouldn't crank over. All the ignition and everything is ok. I put the key in and press it and nothing happens mechanically at all. I have read issues with the older passat engines failing due to oil pump shaft. I thought the CR was immune? I am gutted to say the least I am thinking it is seized? The dealer is shocked and embarrassed as the car has been fine on test drives. The car has been recovered to the dealer and I'm waiting for news. Thoughts or advice?
