BKP Cold enigne starting problem

Hi
My car drives me mad recently, every morning I get in the bloody thing car have problems starting, put key in wait for glow plug light to go off then press key, engine will crank and after few turns just comes back with message engine faulty ect., now this is easy over come just by cycling glow plug lights 2-3 times then will start no problem, this problem is only happens when car is left standing over night after first start everything back to normal.
I checked battery and has been tested all ok, even bench charged it
I can hear lift pump in tank for about 3 sec every time I press key in
Glow plugs has been replaced by my self couple months back and all ok
Fuel Filter looks black
will change that today but this point me to tandem pump problem.
Can some one point me right direction.
