Electric Handbrake Pad Replace... Simple

Hi guys, i want to change the rear brake pads on my b6 estate this weekend, but the penny has just dropped that i have the electric motor to contend with. I found this tutorial on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAB43eO7wIs and was just wondering if anyone has tried similar.

I'm just worried as I don't have access to anything like vagcom etc to tell it I've retracted the electric motor and pistons.
