Engine oil.

My engine light has came on for the first time since it was serviced approximately 12000 miles ago, it's currently on the long life service regime which I'm going to change when the next service isn't due.

Firstly is that amount of mileage normal before needing a top up?

Also is it best to get the oil from VW, I'm also assuming that it's best to get more long life oil and not mix with ordinary.

Lastly what engine oil do you guys recommend. I've got the 2.0tdi sport estate 2007. I believe BMR engine.

The oil light I have is the oil can with a wave underneath. Is this just low oil level and not low pressure?

Hope someone can offer advice
