So today I drove 2 miles and at a set of traffic lights my Passat B6 PD170 just died, no fault lights nothing.
Tried restarting: Ignition ok, no dash lights, starter kicks in fine and turns over but just does not start.
After recovery home I put VCDS on it and checked for engine faults, none.
Checked fuel pump operation by doing VCDS Engine>basic settings>035
and the pump came on for 30 seconds and went off as normal but it didn't sound too great from what I remember when I've tested it in the past.
Any ideas?
I am not sure on how the fuel system works on this PD engine I know it has a high pressure pump in the tank and the PD are the final pressure to the cylinder (from the cam follower) but I am not sure if there is an intermediate pump? which I am led to believe is on CR engines.
Any help is much appreciated as I'm hoping to get it sorted over the weekend beginning of next week.
