Stabilizer bar bush replacement (dog-bone mount)

Hi,

Has anyone replaced the bonded rubber bushes (the large round ones in the centre of the front subframe) on a B6?
I've got the front subframe off to do some other work and have noticed mine are split and need replacing.
They need a VW special tool to press in and out - my local VW dealer won't replace them without doing the whole job (including removing and re-installing the subframe).
A local indie thought he had the tool to do it, but after having the subframe for a day couldn't find the tool.

Has anyone replaced them DIY? Any thoughts or recommendations on how/where it could be done? I'm in the Reading area.

Other options are new (not cheap) or secondhand (bushes worn already) subframe - don't really want to go down that route.

Any help appreciated.
