3C0413031AT shocks

I rather foolishly got myself into a situation where I have one brand new 3C0413031AT and one very slightly older "eco" shock on the front of my B6.
I should have checked first! They are apparently incredibly different.
So there are to options - another 3C0413031AT or eco one.
1) Are there any branded identical ones to 3C0413031AT for a bit lower price? Or is 3AA413031M exactly the same as one ebay listing tries to suggest?
I'd want to see what my options are before parting with the full £130 bill from VAG.
2) Would I be far better off with cheaper eco as they appear to behave more conventionally rather than supper floaty, gelly feel I get with the expensive one?
