12 button MFSW issues (I think) - volume changes itself

Hi all,

My 2011 CC GT came from the factory with the 12 button MFSW which has been working spot on until recently (142k and many tracks skipped etc)

The problem is that whilst driving along the headunit will randomly change the volume, sometimes over bumps but mainly when steering. I am guessing I have wore out a microswitch in the left hand side MFSW controls that changes the volume as it only ever seems to turn the volume down.

Is there anything that I can check to confirm this or how can I go about dismantling the airbag and removing the buttons to see if I can pull it apart and give it a clean/check wiring?

Any other ideas folks?
