Electric brake broken off in caliper trouble

Hi, is there another method of releasing the brake on the back wheel when the electric brake motor has stopped working?
The spindle on the electric motor has snapped off inside the back of the caliper. This is a real pain in the bum because the broken bit will not come out. The brake is jammed on solid and I can't manually turn the caliper free from the back because part of the motor spindle is stuck inside the adjust.
I have tried picking it out. No joy. Grabbing the broken bit with bull nose plies doesn't work. I am completely stuck.

Is there another way to free the caliper before I take a hammer to it and smash it all off?
