I have a 2010 Passat 1.6 BlueMotion with the autohandbrake. I only realised today after driving the missus new Citroen that if the electric handbrake disengages when I put the car in gear and begin to accelerate - previously I was putting my foot on the brake pedal and manually taking the parking break off with the button!
So her car automatically engages the handbrake when you turn the ignition off - is my Passat supposed to do that? I have had the unfortunate experience before of leaving it on a relatively flat car park to come back and find it has rolled into the middle of the car park!
