post mot whinge

Post by dazzer1975 »

So got car back this afternoon. An advisory for the future was that some water was in the wheel well apparently.

I asked if it could be condensation as I had been caught in a bad storm and the windows where steaming up, so assumed it was just ambient moisture levels building up in the car. Anyway, they wanted 300 to investigate (and presumably wipe a towel over the wheel well...naturally I said no thanks.

Had a look now, a good 1-2" of water sloshing around...awesome, traced it to the left hand side of the jack holder polystyrene thing...will take some trim off to see where the problem is, at this moment I am guessing lights, but don't know yet, could be snaking its way from anywhere I suppose.

Anyway, had rear brake pads done in november, 1000 miles ago...or so they said, but apparently the rear pads are worn down to 50%...wtf?

They couldn't do the ac service as their ac machine had broken down?

and to top it off, remember a little while ago, I ordered a clip for the tailgate warning triangle holder as 1 had snapped...I didn't go to pick it up as I knew mot was coming up, so asked them just to put it in the car...which they did.

Anyway, this is what the clip should look like:

This is what was actually supplied:

and to top it off, the warning triangle cover was swinging freely and the one previously unbroken clip was rolling around the boot space:

The car had a major service in november at 1000 miles ago and had rear bushes done...yet this time it required front arb bushes...totally cool, the car needed them, there was no bush left on the video..but how was that not picked up in november?

Never, ever, take your car to bury vw inchcape/smithknightfay they are not fit for purpose

as an aside, can anyone recommend the usual automotive silicone (or otherwise) sealant that is used for water ingress issues

cheers
