Car value - what's it worth?

I had a nosey at a new car the other day, fancied an upgrade to something that was 6 months old. Offered my 2010 B6 Highline 140 DSG with 74k on the clock as part ex and he reckoned it 'books' at 5k. Can Anyone in the trade tell me if this is about right? I suppose the best thing would be to sell it privately but that can be a minefield too!
I think my car is in good condition - no dings, rust stone chips and has fsh, so if it wasn't I dread to think how much they'd have offered, oh and no movement on new car price either!! As many a contestant of Noel Edmonds would say - "No Deal!"
