B6 Body corrosion

Good evening all,

During its last wash I discovered that the leading edge of the bonnet has some minor corrosion (pics to come when I can take a pic during the day!) which is on the 'underside' of the lip, but not quite reaching the seam as far as I can tell. I'm not too surprised given the atrocious monsoon weather we've had in my neck of the woods over the last few months, plus a blast down the M74/M6 in torrential rain in almost constant lorry spray for 240 miles.

I have also found a scuff-like mark on the near side rear wing, which has exposed some of the undercoat (again, pics to follow).

What in interested to know is, whether such imperfections can be self-repaired or if it needs proper professional repair, or worse still a new panel. FRom what I've found via google I don't hold much hope for the 12 year warranty being honoured, as I can't prove it is an inherent defect with the bonnet.

Have any other owners had similar wear marks, and how did you repair them?
