Sticking clutch pedal

Hello everyone just a quick question my clutch pedal stuck half way the other day I put my foot under it and it came back up . Since then I was talking to a friend and he said that it could be self adjusting clutch which would make that happen could anybody shed any light on this it has happens twice since thanks for your replys in advance
