Slight judder / Hesitation under acceleration

Its rather ironic, only a couple of days ago I posted that my trusty B6 was fault free and then yesterday on the way home from shopping the engine started playing up..??? :shock:

What I'm finding is at around 1800 to 2500 rpm when accelerating, the car kind of stammers or judders, I took it very easy on the way home, just in case it stopped, but I am concerned. This is the family work horse and we can't do without it for too long. :(

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions.
