Help - bonnet release catch broken...

Has anyone else had their bonnet release catch snap off? Mine has come off and I cannot open the bonnet! Is there another way to open the bonnet without the inside bonnet release located in the driver's side footwell.

Has anyone else had this happen to their B6? What is the best way to fix?

Please help as I feel a bit exposed not being able to open the bonnet in case of an emergency or to check fluids.
