Cabin Air Recirculation button

Hello All,

I am new to VW world, bought one from CarGaint a couple of weeks back. 2006 - 2.0 TDI 140ps Sport.

My query is regarding the Cabin Air Recirculation button, when I try to switch it on it just blinks but never get switched on. Have any one come across this? Is this feature automatically controlled? btw the A/C was not in Auto mode.

Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
