HELP - Passat Towbar

I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem for me.

I need to have a towbar fitted to by B6 Passat, so far Heritage VW have quoted me Â£1069

I then spoke to a towbar company who said I have two options

option 1

Standard towbard and electrics - Â£200

Option 2

Standard towbard with dedicated electrics that require dealer re-programming - Â£350

What are the benefits (if any) of having dedicated electrics and a dealer recode?
Will standard electrics cause any problems? Heritage say that it will cause engine managments lights to come on, the towbar company disagree!

any advice would be appreciated.
