If you find yourself needing to be towed, pack a screwdriver

Post by madrob6 »

So in the snow yesterday it took me about 30 minutes just to dig myself out of a hotel car park in Gloucestershire as the snow height was about the same as the ground clearance on my car. Had to drive past work as the snow was just as deep in the entrance so decided to turn around and come back after some of the 4x4s had gone in and cleared it and got stuck half way up a hill.

A few 4x4s sailed past without a care in the world until one nice chap with a pickup stopped and gave me a tow up the hill. Problem was I'd not towed this car before and had no idea where the towing eye went. Figured out it would be a similar place to the B5 and proceeded to pull the grille out which proceeded to crack nicely before I noticed there was a little screw hidden away in there.

Moral of the story is check that you know where the towing eyes are on your car before you end up breaking it like a muppet.
